Cookie Monster and Privacy
A recent EU Directive has come into play and as Vegemitevix.com is written in the EU region and read by many in the EU, we have had to munch it up and deal with the cookies.
On Vegemitevix.com we do use cookies to help improve our user’s experience. We use a number of applications that also use cookies including (but not limited to) WordPress, Google, Disqus, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and AdRotate.
Some of the reasons we use cookies are:
- To log where in the world our readers are based
- To ‘recognise’ frequent users so that they do not need to sign in everytime they want to participate in discussion
- To direct locationally appropriate promotional and advertising material to our users
What are Cookies Anyway?
Small delicious morsels of scrumptiousness!
In the website sense, cookies are small snippets of code that are left on a user’s website and are read by the application when the user returns to the website.
What do I need to do?
The plugin should only ask if you wish to accept cookies if your IP address is logged as being within the EU.
If you click the Accept button on the EU Cookie notice we will remember your preferences for up to one year. You need do nothing further. If you do not accept cookies you will still be able to access Vegemitevix.com but you may not be able to participate in discussion and some aspects of the website will be severely limited.
Privacy
Vegemitevix.com has a strict privacy policy. We will NEVER sell information about our users.
Full stop, end of story!
We encourage discussion and debate in our forums but discourage anonymous comments. But please aware that any abusive comments will be tracked back to the IP address and reported or blocked as appropriate.
Comments may be moderated, links may be stripped or marked as ‘nofollow’ and trolls will not be tolerated!
Spam comments are monitored by Akismet and any that do get through the net will be removed by the website administrator.
Thanks for reading and joining in the discussion at Vegemitevix.com! We’d love you to stick around, so as Daisy used to say in the Dukes of Hazzard ‘you’ll come back now, y’hear!”
