What Do We Blog About?
Vegemitevix is a lifestyle blog that covers an eclectic range of subjects all from the perspective of a forty something expat Kiwi Mum who moved her family across the world to set up home with a scrumptious Englishman she met in Paris. We write about most things but especially about -
Expat life, travel, parenting, teenagers, second-marriage, relationships, good books, fine wine, music, film and theatre, technology, love, middle-age, women’s interest, New Zealand, Australia, UK, South Pacific, Fiji, writing, and working from home.
That’s a hell of a niche!
Please note that my kids are now tweenies and teens and are not generally interested in baby bottles, nappies, fairy days out or prams. I am not a tweenie or a teen, but neither am I much of a housewife so please don’t ask me to review vacuum cleaners, dish cloths, or other housewifey stuff. I may review it, you might not like what I’ll write.
On the other hand feel free to pitch ideas for travel, holidays, cars, technology, or other things a 40-something global citizen might like.
Bear in mind that Vegemitevix has a number of loyal male readers – typically 35+ years old who do not enjoy reading about women’s products or women’s incontinence pads.
Awards
Vegemitevix started in 2009 and by 2010 had acheived top ten status (in parenting) for Wikio across the UK/EU. It was also translated into several languages and distributed across Europe by eBlogs until eBlogs closed in 2010.
In 2010 Vegemitevix was a finalist in the Best Blogger category for Brilliance in Blogging (BritMums), and was a keynote speaker in the crowdsourced session at the UK’s first Cybermummy conference.
In 2011 Vegemitevix was voted one of the top 25 Expat Mom blogs by the Circle of Moms’ network (over 6 million members!) and achieved recognition as one of the Top Ten Twitter people on the Top Ten blog.
