Just the two of us

by Vicki Jeffels on October 12, 2012

For G Adventures #Frifotos today’s prompt is the number two. That suits me mighty fine as I wandered down memory lane finding these beautiful couples from my travels over the past two years.

Woman and best friend

Woman and her best friend in Venice. Just the two of us.

Holding me, holding you

As we cruised back from visiting the beautiful island of Burano night fell casting a sultry veil over the Venice lagoon. These lamp-posts reminded me of old married couples holding each other up despite the inevitable wear and tear of the tides of life.

We’re still standing

There was something magical about seeing these two pillars still standing strong after all these centuries. How their environment must have changed around them, and yet now there’s only a gentle zephyr coming in from the sea, the smell of wild flowers and the clicks and buzz of cameras marking time.

Making music together

These two looked like The Odd Couple, but they were cheerfully making music on the street corner by the Jordaan market this cold Saturday morning. Amsterdam was a wonderfully grungy kind of place, but laid-back too and these two buskers seem to capture that Amsterdam vibe perfectly.

Together forever

The lava formations in the Mt Teide National Park were a surprise – they are as imposing as they look in the photos. There was something eerie about the place, as if we were standing in a gigantic graveyard, which in a sense we had been, as this was the lava field from the last major eruption from Tenerife’s Mt Teide. I can imagine these two lava formations as bickering old men – wanting to be close to pass the time, but not too close. ‘Arrrgh get outta ma face, will ya?’

Two Magical Staircases

The double staircase at Livraria Lello in Porto, Portugal. Inspiration behind the magical moving staircases at Hogworts?

Double sun-loungers

These sun-loungers were positioned perfectly for the restful view, looking over the edge of the infinity pool to the sea beyond. One day I’ll take my Englishman back to the Anassa Spa, it was a perfect retreat. Soothing, surprisingly spiritual and stylish. My kind of place.

Now, this was not what I expected! :D I thought that I was going to be seeing photos of you and your Englishman! Great pictures….. nothing beats travelling.

Well I did debate putting photos of us both up but I need to ask my Englishman first. He’s always been a bit shy of revealing himself on the blog. But who knows he might be ready to step out from behind the camera. I’ll keep you posted. x
