Just Peachy!

by vix on February 24, 2010

I received the test results from the local surgery today.

They were surprising, worrying, and just peachy all at once.

Apparently my liver function is normal. Surprising why you consider my frequent appreciation of the fermented grape perhaps but good news nevertheless.

I have no errant white cells which bodes well for lack of cancerous thingame’s.

My thyroid function is normal. Which on the surface appears to be good news, but when you consider that if it were abnormal it would easily explain the weight gain (rather than the wine, the Pavlova, the mince pies and the turkey and ham of Christmas…) well, then it’s not so good. It would be somewhat handy if I could put it down to a thyroid misfunction.

The real surprise is that the good doctor and her lab rats er technicans, have determined that my hormone level is absolutely normal.

Jolly good. I am not turning into a man any time soon. Both ovaries are present and reporting for duty, at least monthly.

As early menopause is a family curse, this is a good thing in many ways. Despite the fact I have no wish to return to the nappy nightmare/stage and I have no babymaking equipment left (hysterectomy) and would need to find a womb with a view should I wish to re-enter the gene pool, it is nevertheless great to know that I still have feminine wiles.

The downside is………

there can be no other explanation…..

I am turning into a peach!

Facial Veet, anyone?

I know the feeling, and i am only 30! i have found several hairs on my chin n the last few months! Something must have happened to my body on turning 30.

Good news about the tests though, good to know you will be with us for a little longer ;)

It's weird isn't it! I've never had facial hair ever despite being very dark haired. Oh well at least my eggs aren't scrambled.

    Could be worse…. could've been a pomegranate!

Exactly dotterel. Glad I'm not morphing into a lemon!

Good to know, isn't my dear? And you can always get the Veet out.

And a very nice peach you are too !

We have early menopause in my family – I hadn't realised you could have tests to check the hormone levels

Thank you! Yes my poor Mum started at 35!!! Hence having the kids early (started at 27!) I guess there's no medical reason for my symptoms I'm just an old grump! lol x
